| New Dominick's Fresh Food Concept Coming to Uptown |
 |
|
Dominick's is considering making the upcoming
39,000 s.f. store at Sheridan and Foster its "Chicago
flagship store". Dominick's purchased the adjoining
hotel property on Foster; this site will be demolished
first. The
existing store, built in 1978, will remain open as
long as possible. The new store will occupy the
land currently used as its parking lot and
the hotel. Construction is expected to begin this
summer.

Fresh Harvest Market thrills neighbors!
A new grocery store has opened at the northwest
corner of Leland and Sheridan (4650 N
Sheridan).
UCC would like to applaud the owners on their new
venture. This store exemplifies what UCC would like
to see in all of Uptown's retail establishments. They
have unobstructed windows
so people can see into and out of the store, which
makes it appear more inviting while promoting a
sense of safety. It has wonderful lighting, both
inside and outside... and happily, no scissor
gates!
Simply put, they want to be what we all strive to be...
good neighbors!
Fontana Grill has its liquor license!
It was a long time coming... but just in time for
spring and the new outdoor patio, Fontana Grill
and
Wine Bar has received its liquor license. Wine is
served in a unique manner. There are basically two
price points. Wines are either priced at $1/oz,
or $2/oz, and poured in 3 and 6 oz sizes. Bottles of
wine are either $22 or $44 a bottle. There is also a full
bar also for those who prefer beer or spirits.

Letter from the President |
|
|
|
Despite the cold weather, we know Spring is
coming
because neighborhood activities are popping up
everywhere... just like the Jonquils. From
Buena
Park Neighbors making Easter baskets for
neighborhood children to Keitha Benkowski
organizing the annual Girl Scout cookie
drive,
it's time for us to do our part to make Uptown a
brighter spot on the Chicago map. A special
thanks to
everyone who works so hard to make Uptown a
great
community!
